++++ PLUS FOUR — A rare, peak state — a profound sense of clarity, connection or significance that stands apart from the ordinary intensity scale and is not simply a stronger version of the levels below it.

2. T+00:00:00 [note]
An observer's account: the subject collapsed almost instantly into an unresponsive state, turned purple, and stopped breathing; chest compressions and rescue breathing revived him, whereupon he described the state as pure ecstasy before his breathing stopped a second time and resuscitation was repeated. Awake he became progressively lucid, but closing his eyes unleashed an intolerable terror that prevented sleep. Antipsychotic treatment three days later restored acceptable functioning within several more days.
