A first alert at fifteen minutes was followed by a lull, then a rapid climb: within a bit over half an hour the writer could no longer write or drive and the office furniture appeared to bob up and down. Lying down with eyes closed produced wild imagery, including a layered scene of watching hallucinations while imagining sitting before a fire that did not exist; daylight seemed to wash the effects out. Some hesitancy remained at three hours and none at four.
