The state was odd, mildly agreeable, and very long-lasting: central vision stayed clear and sober while the periphery felt suffused with strangeness, along with a sensation at the back of the head of something about to break through that never did. Visuals were slight and only appeared when sought, there were no tremors, and food tasted fine despite absent hunger. The experience lacked depth, and the author saw little reason to repeat it.
