Taken alone, the material reached a full strong level between hours two and three and appeared to still be deepening, which frightened the author. The state was defined by an eerie absence of extremes rather than distorted reality. After a rigidly pre-planned drive to a friend, the peak settled over a couple of hours into something familiar and peaceful while remaining strong; fruit tasted wonderful, light dozing came by midnight, and full recovery took a second night's sleep. The emotional flatness was novel and unwelcome.
