The experience opened with sudden chills that sent the writer under a blanket, where closed-eye imagery turned dreamlike and their sense of self felt uncentered, emotionally distant, and strangely alien, as if viewing the world through unfamiliar eyes. It was neither pleasant nor unpleasant, and drifting into a sleep-like trance with bizarre imagery came easily. By three hours the nausea had passed and they could get up and eat a little; everything was over by six hours, though brief startles and split-second auditory flickers suggested caution with higher doses. A disruptive psychological crisis began a day later but was judged, in hindsight, unrelated.
