Sitting alone in a smoke-free room some forty-five minutes after a second dose, the author repeatedly saw curling gray rings of smoke that looked utterly real whenever attention was relaxed. Deliberate scrutiny, such as passing a finger through them, made the forms dissolve, only for them to reappear once focus softened. The author remained fully aware the images had no external source, yet their visual reality was absolute.
